The day-time stay sector "Childhood Territory" started its work for children of employees involved in construction of Rooppur NPP in the People's Republic of Bangladesh (the Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation is a general designer and general contractor).
"Opening of a children sector is one of the most high-demand request of our employees with families. Nuclear power plant construction takes many years, and throughout this period they have to live separated with their closely related people, so we decided to create conditions for moving to Bangladesh together with their families. This will make the work at Rooppur NPP still more attractive and enhance the working spirit of colleagues", commented Alexey Deriy, the ASE JSC Vice-president - Director for the Rooppur NPP construction project.
Preschoolers of 3 years and older, schoolchildren of Grades 1-9 are welcomed in the sector. Now 15 children attend the "Childhood Territory", 3 more will come soon. Ten employees of the sector arrange for them enrichment, sport and entertainment activities. School-aged children have extra-mural training: they attend online lessons in the International School of blended learning in Moscow. The sector has its own playground, fitness-area, choreographic and musical classrooms, media and art workshops. There is a children's medical room where a pediatrician receive patients.
Rooppur NPP equipped with two VVER-1200 reactors of the total 2400 MW capacity is being constructed under the Russian design 160 km from Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, in accordance with General Contract dated December 25, 2015. The Russian design with VVER-1200 reactors was selected for the first NPP in Bangladesh, which was successfully implemented at two units of the Novovoronezh NPP. This is an evolutionary Generation III+ design which fully complies with all the international safety requirements.
